Activity  Information & Points
Marching Band Minimum attendance requirements; director’s discretion 4 pts.
Pep Band  Regular WINTER season pep bands only
Attend 10 events to receive 2 pts
Attend 8 events to receive 1 pt.
Winter Tournament This is an On-Call type of Band, directors discretion for points
Attend ALL regular winter season pep bands and receive an additional 1 pt.
Pep Bands If in another Winter activity, points will begin for you as soon as your winter activity is done.
Attend ALL Winter Tournament games to receive an additional 1 pt.
Solo Region 7AA Solo & Ensemble Contest. You and a piano player or vivace accompanying system.  Contest is in April and you and your accompanist should practice together on a weekly basis. 2 pts.
Ensemble Region 7AA Solo & Ensemble Contest.  You and another person(s) and sometimes an accompanist depending on the individual music requirements.  Contest is in April and you and the individuals in your group should practice together weekly in preparation. 1 pt.
Jazz Ensembles Jazz I and Jazz Too qualify1 pt.
Piano Accompanist Accompany Solo’s and Ensembles at Contest
1 pt. for every 2 Accomp.
Superior Rating Need to obtain a 35 or higher out of 40 pts at Solo/Ens.                            1 pt.
Band Officer Elected by the band as a representative voice for each representative office....Pres, VP, Sec, Treas Class officers, VB Band representative.1 pt.
Aid-Librarian A person(s) in charge of the band music library or also help out with the bands office duties.....clean up. 1 pt.
Colorguard
Member of guard, minimum attendance and work ethic, directors discretion. 
You can receive a colorguard letter after satisfying 2 consistent years of colorguard. 1 pt.
Drumline
member of marching band drumline, minimum attendance and work ethic... Directors discretion. 1 pt.
Drum Major Marching Band Drum Major; carry out appropriate duties. 1 pt.
Band Camp
Attend a camp for instrumental music. This is not our band camp held in Grand Rapids. 1 pt.
All-State Band
Minnesota Music Educators sponsors a camp of select musicians from around the state.  Audition process takes place in March.  Auditioning does not qualify for the point. You must be selected and participate in the group. 1 pt.
Marching Band Section Leaders must be helpful and in attendance or no Section Leader point will be awarded.  You must perform up to a certain standard.  Director’s and sections discretion. 1 pt.
1st Chair 
Must be a 1st chair player for a minimum of 1 quarter. Section is you plus 2 more players. 1 pt.
Misc. Miscellaneous to be determined by directors.  We have some students who do active community service with their Instrumental music.  Such items can include playing in Church on a regular basis, community service for the band program, volunteering weekly to clean the band rooms, Etc..... each task will be reviewed by the Directors. 1 pt.

 

A Total of 7 points is needed to letter in band. Points are good for 1 year only and cannot be accumulated towards another year.
